Chaitra Navratri, a major Hindu festival, begins on the Pratipada date of Shukla Paksha in the Chaitra month, as per the Hindu calendar. This auspicious occasion marks not only the beginning of the Hindu New Year, but also Gudi Padwa. The celebrations begin with the keeping of the Kalash on the first day of Chaitra Navratri, and the nine-day fast begins. On this day, Maa Shailputri, the first of the Navadurgas, is highly revered.

Durga Ashtami, observed on the Ashtami of Chaitra Navratri, is a significant day in which girls are worshipped and havan is performed. Another significant day during this time is Ram Navami, which is observed on Navami Day and commemorates the birth anniversary of Lord Ram, who was born in Ayodhya on Chaitra Shukla Navami. Following this, the Chaitra Navratri fast is completed. Dr. Mrityunjay Tiwari, Head of the Astrology Department at Shri Kallaji Vedic University, has revealed when Chaitra Navratri will begin this year during the Kalash sthapan muhurta.

Chaitra Navratri 2024 begins on April 9, according to the Vedic calendar. The Muhurta for keeping the Kalash is between 06:02 am and 10:16 am, or 11:57 am to 12:48 pm for those who are unable to do so in the morning.
On April 17, Ram Navami will be celebrated with a grand worship of Ramlala at Ayodhya’s Ram Temple. On the day of Ramlala’s birth anniversary, a grand ritual will be performed, as well as Havan.

Chaitra Navratri 2024 will last nine days, starting on April 9 and ending with Paran on April 17. Durga Ashtami falls on April 16, and Kanya Pujan and Hava will be celebrated.
